Limah Design Consultants begins Wayfinding for the 4.8 million sqm Knowledge Economic City in Madinah, Saudi Arabia.

The project is set to become one of Madinah’s unique assets and will create more jobs, improved visiting experiences, more businesses, and lifestyle opportunities.

Jason Lewis, Limah Founder & Managing Director, said: “It is with great excitement we begin our second major Urban Wayfinding project in Saudi Arabia, as we join hands with Knowledge Economic City Company. Our scope of work shall revolve around Phase One of the site while considering and planning for the future phases which include residential, commercial and a new high speed rail station. Knowledge Economic City (KEC), one of the six economic cities under development in KSA, is another opportunity for our team to help create Madinah’s future. We are already fully engaged in the Central Area of Madinah, and the new development is just 5 km from our existing Urban Wayfinding package. This new project will allow us to plan the Wayfinding & Signage for a large portion of the City.”

The City will feature residential areas, hospitality, commercial centres and souks, educational and research facilities, museums and shopping centres. These opportunities across all sectors will enable KEC to be a knowledge industries hub and enabler. KEC will be positioned to serve Saudi Arabia’s economic diversification strategy and revive Madinah’s role as a center for the Islamic knowledge, global knowledge and culture.

Wadi Dahdal, Limah Director, added: “it’s a pleasure to have an opportunity to work on a City which has been so carefully planned and has a clear vision. In line with our own company values and goals it’s yet another opportunity to take Wayfinding Consulting to another level by truly enhancing and improving the environments we live in.”¬

As in any Urban Environment Wayfinding & Signage plays a major role in its success, The project will entail a complete strategy and planning for all user groups entering the City by planning the navigation to all major destinations.

Lewis continues: “Our Clients have quickly begun to see the value in professional Wayfinding, our Consulting firm and expertise specializing in large scale Urban and Infrastructure projects. Wayfinding now has become a very important discipline in the planning of large environments, and we are thrilled to be at the forefront of this challenging field.”

The project now under construction will see Phase one of the work implemented in early 2013.
